Facebook vs iOS14 Update
Don’t panic we’ll still be able to lob all the money at Facebook in hopes of getting our brand message to land at the right screen at the right time but Apple has made it clear, user privacy comes first. The upcoming IOS 14 privacy changes have been the news for Q1 of 2021, with the update changes set to take place any date now. Here’s a brief breakdown of who it will affect, what can be done and where to find out more.

Who will be affected? – The IOS update will mean that all apple users will receive a prompt in their apps, the app tracking transparency prompt will give users the option to opt out of the application being able to track their data. This feature is and has been available, but the prompt will mean that more users will opt out of this data tracking.
Advertisers (that’s us) will be affected in that all the IOS users who opt out will no longer have their data tracked and collected across the Facebook network. Additionally, our existing Facebook Pixels would need adjusting and we’d need to ensure all our domains are verified so that we can still track the effectiveness of our FB ads to our linked owned properties. In summation don’t expect an FB Apocalypse just yet but with data privacy becoming such a concern we need to be aware of the changes and plan accordingly.
